Southeastern Pacific, Patagonia (Holthuis 1952; Retamal 1973; Arntz et al. 1999; Boschi et al. 1981, 1992; Hayashi 2006) to south of the Falkland Islands (Takeda & Hatanaka 1984), the Drake passage (boundary of the Antarctic Polar Front) and Antarctic and sub-Antarctic waters of the Australian sector; pelagic, 300–1400 m (Iwasaki & Nemoto 1987a). Synonym Pasiphaea forceps A. Milne-Edwards, 1891.
