discussion
Remarks. Ethusina rowdeni was previously known only by the male holotype from the southern Kermadec Ridge (whakatane Seamount, Bay of Plenty; 1292 – 1336 m). The present specimens extend the known bathymetric range and the geographic range westwards to southeastern Australia. The Australian specimen (NMV J 72625) is the largest recorded of the species. The gonopods of the juvenile male (NIwA 31725) are incompletely developed; both are elongated but gonopod 2 is as yet separate from, rather than enclosed by gonopod 1.
distribution
Distribution. Northern New Zealand from seamounts in the Bay of Plenty, westwards to the Challenger Plateau; for the first time from eastern Australia; 914 – 1336 m.
