discussion
Companilactobacillusmetriopterae (me. tri. o. pte’rae. N. L. fem. gen. n. metriopterae of Metrioptera, thegenus of grasshoppers from which the type strain was isolated). Basonym: Lactobacillus metriopterae Chiba et al. 2018, 1486 VP; the species includes strains previously described as Lactobacillus terrae Kim et al. 2018 [135, 136] C. metriopterae forms an outgroup of Companilactobacillus and has thesmallest genome size (1.50 Mbp) and mol % G + C content (32.8); it seems to transition to an insect associated lifestyle. C. metriopterae is pigmented and ferments fewer carbohydrates than other companilactobacilli.
