Lactobacillus intestinalis (in. tes. tina’lis. N. L. masc. adj. intestinalis, pertaining to the intestine). Lactobacillus intestinalis produces DL-lactic acid from glucose, mannose, fructose, galactose, sucrose and mannitol, but not from arabinose, xylose, rhamnose and trehalose [96]. The genome size is 2.01 Mbp and the mol % G + C content of DNA is 35.4.
