description
Cells are Gram-staining-positive, non-flagellated and streptobacilli shaped. Colonies are circular and cream colored after 3 days on NA at 25 ° C. Positive for esculin hydrolysis, β - galactosidase and gelatinase in API 20 NE, but negative for arginine dihydrolase, glucose fermentation, indole production, nitrate reduction and urease. Utilize N - acetyl-glucosamine, D-glucose, D-maltose, D-mannitol, D-mannose, potassium gluconate and trisodium citrate, but not utilize L-arabinose, adipic acid, capric acid, malic acid and phenylacetic acid. Strain KHG 7 (= NIBRBAC 000497857) has been isolated from Gut of Red-crowned Crane (Grus japonensis), Gyeonggi Province, Korea.
