Positive for urease and cytochrome oxidase but negative for nitrate reduction, indole production, glucose fermentation, arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis, gelatinase, and β - galactosidase in the API 20 NE test. Potassium gluconate, malic acid, and trisodium citrate are utilized, but D-glucose, L-arabinose, Dmannose, D-mannitol, N - acetyl-glucosamine, D-maltose, capric acid, adipic acid, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized. Strain Gsoil 1041 (= NIBRBAC 000498589) was isolated from Ginseng field, Anseong, Gyeonggi, Korea.
